I didn’t grow up listening to public radio in the back seat of my parent’s car. Instead, I grew up in an Indonesian and Indian home where no one hid their true selves, and where the tempo and patterns of life inspired my story pitches and storytelling style.
As a young journalist, I found myself in the midst of a wave of racial reckonings and destigmatizing mental health that I was poised to report on. I understand the nuances of the Asian and Pacific Islander community, which I was not only a part of but studied in university.
When I'm not telling stories that help us better understand the communities we share this planet with, I'm dancing salsa, playing tennis, or binging Bollywood movies.
I live in Laramie, WY. And open to collaborative work on stories! You can email me at npbrao01 [at] Gmail [dot] com (firstname.lastname@example.org).
